You have witnessed that employees no longer have new added-values or became like dinosaurs. But in today's world the important thing for the organizations is to achieve an added-value to every task an employee is doing rather than doing the same task as yesterday.
Now, employees with which attributes have the potential to present added-value?
According to Richard Koch and Ian Godden in their book "Managing Without Management", people who are entrepreneur or leader can add positive value.
The mot important difference between traditional management and innovative management (that cares leadership concept) is the "control".
Traditional Management first controls the time them processes, rules, if the model is working and the budget. Employees and managers restrict their aims between these boundaries. Innovation and taking risks are suppressed in this environment.
Leadership requires desire for success, courage, communication and vision.
A good leader should aim for more and guide the group he/she is working with to reach these goals.
In organizations (project based, organizations which are managed with goals or has become a team) since the team members know the aim of the project/activity well, they are aware of their roles and responsibilities. With different style and personality of each employee, a cooperation is obtained and they try to reach the aim of the company. Individual initiatives are used in order to complete the job. If we think of an organization where all the employees can show their creative part and can manage themselves, leadership will be in the front lines of the organization.
Well, what are the duties of a leader in such organization?
The duties of a leader is to guide their team members, ease the work load and educate the employees if needed.
With the new economy, productivity is in agenda of the organizations. Organizations try to increase productivity levels to find buyers in the marker in shorter time and with a decreased cost and better quality. In our country, the organizations that cannot improve productivity an quality will have hard times in competitive environment of global market.
Ways of increasing the productivity and quality are not to restrict the employees and identifying "role definitions" to use the technical knowledge/skills and expertise of the employees. System should be produces so that every time it works, it will be responsible from its own quality. Employees should constantly seek for personal development and improving their skills.
As a result with the effects of the management, organization can achieve outputs that satisfies the customers and also realize abilities of the employees in the organization to create added-value and also achieve employee satisfaction.
